The museum was originally a Bacteriological Institute that was established in 1906. The Bacteriological institute was the first laboratory dedicated to public health and medical research. From the establishment of the Institute to its revitalization as a museum nowadays, the building has played an important role in the medical history of Hong Kong. Through the museum tour, participants can know more about public health, conquest and prevention of infectious diseases, development of medical and health services in Hong Kong, traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine and architectural features of the museum building.
